Bath #2

I gave Rylan a bath in the infant tub again today, this time without the newborn sling. He's lacking a little head control still, but was just fine without the sling. Rylan was not a fan though of taking a bath and this was how pitiful he looked the whole time while screaming:

And he pooped in the tub again during his bath. So much fun!

New Phone

I finally have a new cell phone! I've had mine since December 2007 and it has seen better days (especially since Carter gets ahold of it all the time).

I had a Palm Centro with many cracked pieces of plastic:

I now have a HTC Hero:

I'm still figuring it out but love it so far! I ended up getting a new phone number so that I could get a better deal on the phone and the plan. Hopefully the pain of a new number will be worth the money we saved! If I haven't given you my new number and you need it, send me an email!

Choo-choo

Carter is obsessed with trains right now. He calls them choo-choos and there's a 50% chance that's the first thing he says when I get him in the morning (50% of the time he'll ask about the "baby", especially if he can hear Rylan crying).

Carter has been watching a little more TV lately since I have to nurse a lot and sometimes just can't handle both kids screaming and wanting my attention. I usually will turn on an episode of Chuggington (a cartoon about trains on Playhouse Disney). So now when Carter sees the TV, he'll often point at it and say "choo-choo?".

We opened up some of the Thomas toys I got at the Target toy clearance last week. Carter and Brian have been enjoying building the tracks and watching the motorized train follow the track.

So Sweet!

Future Engineer?

Do you think there is a chance Carter will be an engineer like his parents?

Couponing

So I'm still trying to coupon when I can. I don't have as much time to read the blogs that spell out the really good deals or get to various stores, but I'm still trying to take advantage of some good, easy deals when I see them.

Today I got a great deal on Play-doh at Target. Here's what I got:

It's the Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice-Cream Shop and a 4-pack of Play-Doh. The Ice-Cream shop normally costs $14.99 and is on sale this week for $8. Also, when you buy it, you get the 4-pack of Play-doh for free (it normally costs $1.99). On top of that, I got a $5 off coupon on the Play-Doh website. So I got all of this for $3 plus tax.

I'm still getting deals on stuff like cleaning supplies and toiletries but those aren't as exciting to write about!

First Tub Bath

We gave Rylan a bath in the baby bathtub for the first time today. I've waited so long because I wanted to make sure his belly button healed completely before getting it wet (it was still really raw after the stump fell off a couple of weeks ago).

Rylan is so big that I probably won't use the newborn sling next time!

Rylan didn't mind the bath at first but after about 2 minutes, he cried through the rest of the bath. He also managed to pee and poop during the bath. Hopefully the next bath will be a little more enjoyable for everyone!

Happy Birthday Mary Grace!

Mary Grace had her 3rd birthday party today. We all had a lot of fun at her UT-themed party!

Carter and the birthday girl playing with "choo-choos", as Carter calls them.

We've tried giving Carter pizza a few times, and he's never eaten any of it. Today though he loved it! He ate almost a whole piece!

He's also never wanted cake. He couldn't get enough today!

Happy birthday Mary Grace!

More Toys

So I went to Target today to return a few toys I had bought early in case they didn't have them when the 75% off sale started (luckily they had them!) and I found one more great purchase.

I bought these 2 Little People sets at 50% a few weeks ago ...

These are the Animalville Miss L. Afina & Her School House for $8.48 and the Animalville Pilot Myles Landon & His Airport for $8.48. They were the only ones on the end of an aisle with clearance stickers on them. The same sets were in the aisle with all the other Little People stuff full price. So I snatched them up.

Today I came across the Animalville Town Center which goes between the other 2 sets (they all attach).

It was the only one and it was sitting on the end of an aisle and hidden by one of carts the employees use for marking down sale items. It was marked only 30% off but I really wanted it to go with the other two sets. I was super excited though when I was checking out to find that it was actually 75% off and only cost $6.24.

So I got all three of these sets for only $23.20 plus tax. Carter loves his Little People Racin' Ramps Garage and Animal Sounds Farm so hopefully he'll like these just as much!

This afternoon I was brave enough to take the boys outside by myself for awhile. Luckily Rylan slept the whole time while Carter and I got out all our water toys. I pulled out Carter's water mat that he hasn't used since last summer. It's a completely different experience now that he can stand!

Today ...

Last summer ...

Rylan was awake almost all day today (he's still awake). I think he's making up for yesterday when he slept most of the day. He usually won't sleep like this on the floor ...

First Family Walk

I've been wanting to get out in the evenings to take a walk with the boys but between it being so hot this summer and us still trying to just fit in dinner and a bath for Carter between the time Brian gets home from work and Carter's bedtime, we hadn't managed to do it. Until Wednesday (Rylan's one month "birthday"). We got a short storm in the afternoon that cooled it off here just enough that we didn't start sweating until about 3 minutes into the walk. But all that mattered was that it was cool enough that the boys weren't too hot.

I love our new BOB stroller but I'm having a hard time imagining taking the boys running with the hills in our neighborhood. It's going to be some kind of workout pushing that heavy stroller with 2 kids in it!!!
