House Progress
Our lot got graded this week. We now can see that the lot is sloped slightly with the high side being the back of the lot. It looks smaller to us now that it's graded but we still love it!

Home Depot Kids Workshop
We took Carter to Home Depot this morning to build this month's project. The kids made pencil boxes and got to paint them.
Carter did excellent with about half the nails but then was more interested in getting to paint so we had to finish off the last few nails for him. He did a great job painting though and managed to make very little mess.

Apartment Pictures
I've finished unpacking. We still have some organizing to do but the apartment is generally done. I still need to hang things on the wall too.
Here is the floorplan for our apartment. There are few differences (no desk, closets are a little different, and we have a doorway to stairs that go down to our garage). We are on the second floor on the end of the building.

Carpet in the dining room is not ideal with 2 toddlers ...
The apartment is about 15 years old and none of the appliances or counters or cabinets have been replaced, but it's not too bad ...

So far we like the apartment. They put in new carpet and vinyl flooring before we moved in so it's clean. It's pretty quiet too. We sometimes hear the people walking above us or people outside, but it hasn't been too bad yet. If anything we're probably the loud ones with two little ones that don't understand that they now share walls with other people.
What we really love about the place is the location. We are only a couple of minutes from tons of shopping and restaurants. And there are sidewalks and greenways connecting us to so many things. We've been going for walks every night after dinner. Tonight we did 2 1/2 miles. So even though Charlotte doesn't have a yard for now, she's getting lots of exercise with us at night. Plus the apartment complex has a little fenced in dog area that isn't used much where she can run off-leash.

Coloring
This afternoon Carter shared his crayons with Rylan and we discovered that he's pretty good at coloring!

Adventure Science Center
I took a break from unpacking this morning and took the boys to the Adventure Science Center. This is one of the museums that we get into for free with our AMSE membership.
I'd rate the museum as average. We've been to better science museums but have also been to some worse ones. Carter had a lot of fun though running around and pushing buttons and playing.
We got there right as the center opened at 10 am but it got crowded after about an hour and we only lasted until noon before I decided there were just too many people there. It was 102 F here today so that may have contributed to the large crowds trying to find an indoor activity.
Carter liked the little dinosaur exhibit and did a good job imitating the sounds they were making ...
Our favorite section was Body Quest. There were lots of activities that demonstrated things the body does. In this one, you feed the mouth by throwing balls into it.
Carter wasn't into going on the slide. For how much we talk about poop in our house, I thought he'd be into pretending to be poop!
We hung out in the preschool section for awhile ...
Rylan really liked playing with (throwing) the train tracks ...

"Ta-da!"
We spent a lot of time "driving" the ambulance ...
There is a really neat playground area in the center of the museum that Carter would really enjoy if he was older. He still found some things to do ...
Overall we had fun and I'm sure we'll be going again soon.

This is what it's like to ride in the car with the boys lately. And this is actually really quiet compared to normal. It's hard to tell which one is which because they sound so much alike.

This afternoon we stopped by Crockett Park and let the boys play for awhile ...
The boys got their first bath in their temporary bathtub ...
Hopefully we'll get a little further tomorrow with unpacking because we are trying to fit a lot into our 1400 sqft apartment and we have boxes everywhere still.
