The boys favorite thing to draw lately are rainbows. Everything Carter colors at school is mass of colors - rainbow hearts, rainbow snowmen, rainbow snow, etc.
Here's Carter's (with his name written by him) ...
And a couple of Rylan's drawings ...

Bubble Bath
The boys had their FIRST bubble bath on Friday night. I have no idea why we've never used bubbles before other than Brian and I are usually exhausted by bathtime (I know, it's only 7:15 pm) and just don't have energy for something that takes more work.
"Why are these bubbles sticking to my arms?!?!?"
Bubble-heads ...
Rylan had a blast just shooting his sharks out of the bubbles the whole time!
"Whoa ... that's a lot of bubbles!"

President's Day
Carter has a bit of a cold and Rylan was up for awhile last night with a weird cough and raspy breathing (I was thinking croup at first but he improved on his own after a couple of hours) so we are having a laid back day at home, mostly. I still needed to get out to get a few groceries (like milk) so we stopped by Barnes and Noble for their Monday Storytime.
Since it's President's Day, we read two books about presidents.
Then we got to make flags. Carter knew exactly where everything went and Rylan seemed to have an idea.
Both boys are very proud of their flags (more so than with most crafts).

Hockey Game
On Thursday night we went to the Predators game against the Phoenix Coyotes. I got tickets on Stubhub for $14 each ($66.50 after all the fees). The seats weren't too bad - 3rd level, 8th row in the corner. We try to take the kids to one game a season but you really never know their interest level at this age still so we don't like to spend too much.
Both boys were crazy before the game. They were so excited. When we were out to dinner a few weeks ago, Rylan went nuts about a hockey game being on one of the TVs at the restaurant. But before the game, the one thing he seemed to be most excited about was getting popcorn like we got at the practice we went to awhile back (though he never asked for it once we were at the game). Carter was most excited about the mascot head that the players skate out of before the start of the game (he remembered that from last year).
The view really wasn't too bad. The box Brian's office has is better though :) We never saw anyone in it all night - Brian should have requested the tickets! They don't have a good system of distributing the tickets (nothing is posted anywhere about availability and you just have to ask) and so you never know when to try to get them.
Carter doing his "fang fingers" during a power play :)
The boys did great! Our ONLY complaint was that they both wanted to sit in our laps rather than their own seats for most of the game. Otherwise, they behaved great and paid a lot of attention to the game. All the snacks I brought along helped, of course. The game started at 7 pm (only an hour before the boys are usually in bed). Carter did fine but Rylan fell asleep in my arms during the second intermission. We ended up staying for the entire game though. The score was 0-0 going into the third period but the Predators scored 3 goals in the last 20 minutes to win 3-0. The walk back to the Pinnacle parking garage wasn't too bad (downhill, thank goodness!) and somehow we escaped without paying the $20 for parking - score!

Valentine's Day
The boys (especially Carter) get more excited about holidays as they get older. So I decided to do a little more this year for Valentine's Day.
On Wednesday evening we made heart shaped cookies for us, for all the kids in the boys' classes, and for the Valentine's party in Rylan's class. I let the boys make the cookies for us but did the others to avoid any toddler contamination :)
The boys are very serious about their sprinkles.
The cookies passed quality control tasting.
My cookies ...
After the boys went to bed, I put one of each cookie into a Valentine's bag and labeled them from each boy with Valentine's cardstock.
Then I did a little decorating to surprise the boys with when they got up. Carter told me in the morning that it was beautiful and "thank you so much" (he can be super sweet).
On each cardstock heart I wrote a little note about each boy.
I also put out gifts from us and ones that my mom mailed the boys.
We got each boy a Duplo Lego set, Jake and the Neverland Pirates tattoos, and Valentine's stickers.
The boys were very excited to open presents. Originally Carter said he wanted to wait until Brian got up but that lasted only 5 minutes.
The presents from Grandma ...
The boys and I made a card for Brian on Wednesday and gave it to him on Valentine's morning.
For breakfast we had blueberry muffins in Valentine's paper.
And then the boys headed off to school. Along with the cookies we made the night before, the kids had Valentine's cards to hand out. I was super original and did the same thing I did last year with Carter.
While the boys were at school, I stopped by The Dollar Tree and got them balloons. We only tortured Charlotte for the afternoon though because I've made the boys keep the balloons in their rooms now (she will not come anywhere near balloons - not even if she needs to go outside).
Rylan did not want his picture taken.
We brought a shoebox to Carter's class last week and Carter made a mailbox for his Valentine's cards.
There are only 9 kids in his class but look at all the stuff he got (when did Valentine's stop being just a simple crappy card?!?).
Rylan's class decorated bags.
He has 12 kids in his class and got a ton too.
My favorite was from Kennedy - super cute!
Rylan's class also did an art project for us. I always love handprint and footprint art!
After we got home from school, we got ready to go to a Predators game, but I'll do a separate post on that. I think the boys enjoyed Valentine's Day this year!
Random ... Carter remembered a couple of weeks ago that GG and Papa Art (Brian's parents) have a ton of old Lego sets at their house. Since then he kept asking if we could go to their house for Valentine's Day (we always go there for Thanksgiving so he must associate holidays with traveling).
