Little Boys

Amy and I took the kids to Gym Bugs today. I took this picture of the little boys while we were there ...

Here's a picture of them from about 3 1/2 months ago ...

They are growing up fast!

Biking & Running

Yesterday we took the boys for a bike ride around our neighborhood and an adjacent neighborhood. We put Carter's old helmet on Rylan and got Carter a new one earlier in the day.

Rylan's smile didn't last much longer than this picture. He had trouble holding his head up straight with the helmet on. His lower back kept sinking into the seat too much and the back of the helmet had no where to go. So Rylan had to bend his neck and look down. We only rode about 3 miles because at the halfway point Rylan started screaming and was done with it all. Unfortunately we had all uphill to get back and I was pulling the bike trailer so it seemed to take forever. But we made it and Rylan was happy as soon as we got him out of the trailer.

I've decided it's time to start running again. I've only run a couple of times since my last race in October. So I took the boys out this morning on a short (2 1/4 miles) run. I'm going to try easing into running (maybe ever other day) because my knees and back have been giving me some issues lately. Hopefully I'll stick with it for awhile!

Here's a picture of the boys before our run. Carter's been making this face sometimes lately when I ask him to smile. Silly boy!

Nice Hat

Brian's parents also mailed the boys a bunch of stuff for Easter. This policeman's hat wins the cutest award ...

Bunny Ears

One of the Easter presents that my dad and Jan mailed to the boys were these cute bunny ears ...

Easter Photos

I attempted to get some good photos of the boys with Easter eggs this weekend. Unfortunately it's hard to get both of them to look at me at the same time, much less smile at the same time. Here are the best of what I got ...

Happy Easter

Carter very much enjoyed hunting for eggs again this year. The Easter Bunny hid around 40 eggs and Carter did a great job of finding most of them on his own. The Easter Bunny got to be a little more creative this year and got to hide eggs in higher places and only put a few in the grass.

I hope everyone had a great Easter!

Who Do They Look Like?

Some people tell us that Rylan looks like Brian and Carter looks like me. Other people tell us the complete opposite. I don't think one has my eyes or Brian's mouth.

Sometimes if I look at Carter and me in the mirror and we're both smiling, I think he looks a bit like me.

I took this picture today and for the first time I thought Rylan looked like me. I actually think he looks like both me and my sister when we were babies in this picture.

It takes certain expressions, but I can tell these boys are related to us!

Easter Gifts from Grandma

My mom gave the boys their Easter gifts this morning. Carter understands presents now. As soon as I mentioned that Grandma had a present for him, Carter was excited and asking for it.

Rylan liked these musical gorilla dumbbells ...

But really loved some plastic balls that jingle even more. Small balls are still his favorite!

Carter's favorite was a Stomp Rocket. He's really good and can shoot it up to around 20 feet.

Carter's next favorite was this little bug collector.

We caught an ant, snail, and big spider. I've been known to put glasses over bugs and leave them for Brian to get rid of so it was a big deal for me to catch a spider!

Trying to Crawl

Rylan is finally trying to move forward a little bit. The only thing that really motivates him right now are books. It's not much so far, but it's a start ...

Busy Day

Today was a really busy day for us.

This morning Rylan and I had another "date". We took my car in to have the tires rotated and then stopped by Target to pick up a few things. When we got home we dyed Easter eggs. Then I went to the dentist to get a crown while my mom watched the boys and gave them lunch.

After I ate a quick lunch, we decided to skip Carter's nap and went to the zoo. He took a short nap in the car on the way there and on the way back.

Carter grabbed a map of the zoo on our way in. He was really cute studying it like he really knew where we were and what he wanted to see. He was able to pick out the pictures of the monkeys, say "ahh-ahhs", and start walking off.

We fed some camels again today ...

And hung out with Georgie the Gibbon for awhile ...

Carter's favorite animals of the day though were the many, many caterpillars we say everywhere we walked.

I had Rylan in the Bjorn most of the time so that he could see the animals better but he started getting fussy and fell asleep right after I moved him to the stroller ...

We stayed almost 3 hours and left right before the zoo closed for the day. When we got home, I made dinner while the boys played outside with my mom. After dinner I went through the boys' closets and dressers and put away most of their winter clothes. I also got out most of Carter's clothes from last summer for Rylan. Rylan wasn't in the mood for trying on clothes but I think all of Carter's shorts are too small for him. Maybe tomorrow we'll go shopping so I can find both of these boys some shorts!

Then the boys got baths and I got them both to bed. It was a long day but I think we all had a lot of fun and everyone should sleep well tonight!
