School Pictures

The boys had individual pictures at school last week.  I had no intention of purchasing the photos (they cost $42 per package and the packages include just a few prints).  So I didn't dress the boys up or get their hair cut (I finally did that Monday - I was cheap this time and went to Supercuts with coupons - not a bad cut but it took 15 minutes per boy!).  Anyway, the boys still got their photos taken and here are the proofs.

Not bad, but I take so many pictures of the boys that I couldn't spend $84 for just a few prints.  I will get their class photos though that they take in spring - those are only $10 each.

Scarecrows

One of our favorite things at Cheekwood in the fall are the scarecrows.  Carter wanted his picture taken with a lot of the ones we saw on Sunday.  I looked up the application for making scarecrows and anyone can do it.  It doesn't cost anything (other than what it costs you to make the scarecrow) and so now I'm thinking it would be fun for us to make one next year.  We'll see if I'm still motivated to do this in a year though!

Rylan finally wanted his picture with one!

There are some really cute ones this year.  There are probably 50 scarecrows so there are lots to see!

Photo Session Preview

Brian needed to do some work today so I took the boys to Cheekwood for a few hours.  The Cheekwood Harvest has begun so there are lots of new things to see and do there.  The scarecrows are out, a new train exhibit is running, and there is a pumpkin patch this year.  It was gorgeous today and I was able to coax the boys into letting me take some good pictures of them.  I have lots to go through (I took 300+ photos and have deleted down to 125 so far but still have some work to do to pick out and edit the best ones).  In the mean time, here is a cute one!

Soccer Game

Carter had his third soccer game this morning.  Today's game was at 9 am and the team had pictures before (at 8:20 am). It took us about 30 minutes (there were lots of teams getting pictures taken) and I think that wore the kids out!

Missy's dad took a couple of pictures of us getting our team picture taken.

I'm curious to see what the official picture looks like!  There are 12 boys on the team - 3 weren't there today and 1 didn't want to be in the picture (we are dealing with 3 year olds!).

The games went well - I think we were all a little more evenly matched today.  There are still a few boys that don't want to play and the general interest was a little low today (I think the boys were all ready to leave since they were at the field almost an hour before the game).

Carter was happy the whole time even though he only touched the ball about twice.  He had been a little upset at the last game that he wasn't scoring and so we'd been talking a little about teamwork and that it takes all the players on the team to score.  We had explained that both Brian and I had always played defensive positions and rarely scored when we played.  So today Carter often got behind the group with the ball and follow them around.  When I encouraged him to go for the ball he told me it was okay, he was helping his team.  As long as he's having fun, I'm happy but I guess we need to talk some more about how he can help his team (like by touching the ball when it comes to him!).

Carson's Birthday Party

This afternoon I took Carter to Carson's birthday party.  Carson is on Carter's soccer team and his mom went to high school with Missy and Heather.  Carson was at Hannah's birthday party last week and apparently played some with Carter there because on the way home, he kept asking if Carter could come to his party.  Of course he would!

The party was at Glow Galaxy.  It's a birthday party place that is lit with black lights and glows.  There is miniature golf and a variety of inflatables.  Carter loved it!  Especially the golf.

I was actually surprised Carter went down this slide on his own (he usually won't do the much smaller ones at Monkey Joe's).

Carter (and Will, Hannah, and Dowden) should sleep well tonight after all the jumping they did!

An attempt at a group photo (the birthday boy is the the tie-dyed Glow Galaxy shirt next to Carter).

Carter, Dowden, and Hannah enjoying pizza and cake in the party room.

This was the first party we'd been to at Glow Galaxy and it was a lot of fun!

Rocks, Rocks, and More Rocks

We have almost finished the bed next to the screened porch.  We need to run electrical to the bubbler rock (right now we are using an extension cord), install landscape lighting, and add a few more plants.  But the bed looks and feels pretty complete so we feel accomplished and that we can move along with our next project - the bed on the other side of the house around the gate.

Here are some before pictures taken about 6 weeks ago:

And here is our almost completed project:

The boys had a blast playing in the bed tonight.

They loved making handprints on the flagstone from the water coming out of the bubbler rock!

The main thing we did today was spread 3 tons of rocks.  It took Brian 3 trips with a rented U-Haul trailer to get all the rocks to the house, but it was much easier moving the rocks from the trailer that we pulled into the yard than from the road like we did when we had rocks delivered for under the deck a few months ago.  But we are still sore and ready for bed!
