Marbles Kids Museum

When we were in Raleigh, we tried to get Carter out of the house for at least a little while each day so he didn't get too bored. It got really cold while we were there so we had to find some indoor activities. We took the boys to Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh a few days before we left.

The museum was crazy with school groups when we first got there but once we started finding the areas they weren't, we had lots of fun. This was the first time we'd been to this children's museum and it is probably my favorite children's museum.

Carter on the bow of the ship ...

There is a pretend underwater dome. Carter really liked walking around in the flippers ...

There was a giant train table that Carter had all to himself. I'm surprised we were able to convince him there was other stuff to do!

Driving a bus ...

The "Big Fun!" activity was hockey using giant candy canes and bells ...

Carter liked shooting REALLY short shots ...

These cages on the second floor were a little scary!

Carter was very cute in this jersey!

And in this chef's hat!

Attempting to surf ...

This was our FAVORITE section of the museum. It's the Moneypalooza section. The giant room has thousands and thousands of yellow and green balls. There are lots of exhibits set up to demonstrate money, saving, and spending. You basically get and spend balls. The exhibits are so cool and some of them accepted and returned balls like the drive-throughs at banks.

(Carter mentioned the baby a few times in the video above because before I filmed him, a couple of balls almost hit Rylan.)

Feeding all the animals ...

And giving a dog a bath ...

Giant legos!

I didn't know what to think of this section. This wasn't blocked off or labeled "For Older Kids Only". There were regular, full-sized tools (including a handsaw) for kids to create projects out of wood. This is cool, but it would of been really easy for Carter to have walked up and grabbed a saw incorrectly.

Still, we loved this museum and hope to return the next time we're in Raleigh!
