It's just plain hot right now. I wanted to do something inside today so we went to a movie at the Franklin Thoroughbred 20. They have movies this summer at 10 am on Thursdays for kids. The movie, popcorn, fruit snack, and drink cost only $2.
This was the second movie at a theater for the boys. Carter and Rylan actually went to their first movie when Rylan was about 3 weeks old (link to post). We went with Sarah and Erin and their kids in Knoxville.
We got to the theater about 15 minutes early. I didn't want to be too early because I was worried about keeping the boys entertained before the movie started. I had no idea it would be so crowded! They were selling the tickets at the concession stand since the ticket included the food. They had about 10 lines open and they were all super long. We finally got through the line around 10:10 am.
The woman in front of me in line said they'd open a second (or third) screen if needed last year. I think we were some of the last people in the theater we were assigned because there were hardly any seats left. It was dark since the movie had already started and the only open seats I could see were some in the first row. So that's where we sat.
This week's movie was Over the Hedge. Rylan sat mesmerized, slouched way down in his seat with his tray of popcorn on his lap. He watched and ate only occasionally looking over at me to ask for his water.
Carter was into the movie too but he's a lot more sensitive to what's going on now and was scared through parts of the movie (it's rated PG - it's not really scary but there are parts where the animals are threatened and the music gets intense).
Tonight though Carter said he really liked the movie. I think his favorite part though was the popcorn because he kept asking me to get more to bring home (our microwave "lightly buttered" stuff just isn't as good).
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the kids since we got into the theater after the movie started. But they were super cute with their trays of popcorn staring up at the huge screen from the front row!
