This morning the boys and I went to Edwin Warner Park in Nashville to look for a couple of letterboxes. The boxes were on the Harpeth Woods Trail and Owl Hollow Trail which start from the same trailhead.
The first letterbox we sought was "Magical Potion" on the Harpeth Woods Trail. We had to go straight up and both boys did AWESOME hiking.
Rylan asked me to carry him a few times but wanted back down really quickly.
Carter did a great job helping me find listed trees in the middle of the trail and then the rock that looked like a goldfish that was next to the letterbox. I think calling this rock a goldfish is a bit of a stretch, but we did find it.
Here's the letter box at the base of a cedar tree.
The letterbox was a Playdoh container - it works better than some of the other containers we've found because everything was dry.
We headed back to the trailhead and started up the other side of the Owl Hollow Trail to find "St. Theresa, The Little Flower".
The letterbox was at the base of a tree that is next to his sign (much easier to locate than the goldfish rock).
The inside of this letterbox was soaked, especially the log for us to stamp.
Here are the two stamps we ended up with.
I'm so proud of both boys for hiking on their own. We didn't go terribly far, but they listened great and seemed to have fun climbing over all the rocks and roots on the trail.
