Soccer Update

Soccer is still going well for both boys.

Rylan has been doing better at practice.  There is still the bribe of getting to go to Chuck E. Cheese after two good practices.  He still has a hard time keeping it together after getting knocked down or not winning a game, but a mention of Chuck E. Cheese usually reminds him that he's okay and doesn't need to get upset.  Despite the breakdowns, Rylan loves soccer so we are still having him play.

Games have been going great though and Rylan doesn't seem to need bribing for them :)  He needs to get more aggressive (he tends to just play defense) or not follow the play even when it moves to another part of the field.  However, when he does get into it (like the fourth quarter of yesterday's game), he's awesome and almost always wins the ball.  He scored one goal and had an assist when he passed the ball to a teammate that was wide open right in front of the goal.  I think Rylan has scored at least one goal in all his games this season.

Carter is doing great at both practice and games.  He's super motivated to do his best but could also be more aggressive.  He tends to wait for a ball to come to him instead of getting in there and winning it.  But he still manages to score a ton (I think he had 5 goals yesterday).  I ran practice on Thursday and I had the kids working on taking shots from further out (instead of dribbling the ball all the way to the goal and giving the other team more opportunities to take the ball away from them).  Carter took this skill and ran with it - most of his shots were from closer to midfield than the goal.  A few went in but he had a ton of shots that were wide.  I love that he was trying something new though!

Here is one terrible video of one of Carter's closer shots that went in just under the crossbar!
