School Playdates

Last year I set up a couple of playdates with Carter's classmates so that the parents got to meet one another and meet some of the kids that our children spend a few days a week with.

All the parents that came were glad that we'd set it up so I decided to do it again this year.  Unfortunately neither of the boys' teachers gave out the contact information of all the other parents like we got last year and didn't want to share it with me either.  So I wrote up a letter with my contact information and a date for the playdate and asked the teachers to put it in each child's school bag.

I planned the playdate with Rylan's class for Monday at Crockett Park but it rained all day so we moved the playdate to Monkey's Treehouse.  Two moms and their kids came (one other had to cancel at the last minute because of a work obligation).  So I got to meet Kennedy and Mason (who already know one another since their moms are friends).  Mason's family also moved to Nashville about a year ago and lived in the same apartment complex as us (at the same time) as they were building their house.

All the kids had fun and even though it was raining, it wasn't very crowded.  Carter made a random friend too and played with him the whole time.

The playdate for Carter's class was today at Crockett Park.  The weather was perfect today and I'm so glad we got to spend all morning outside.  Even though three moms had contacted me to say they were coming, only one made it (since I'm not sure what everyone looks like, I kept asking the kids if they saw any kids from their class).  Lyla was in Carter's class for the last couple of months of last year.  Her mom (Holly) is super sweet and also has a little girl (Betsy) exactly one year younger than Rylan and a baby boy (Clay) who is 362 days younger than Betsy.  She is Supermom!

Lyla, Carter, and Rylan played great together.  While eating lunch Lyla told us that Carter is her best friend.  When we were leaving, Rylan even said "Bye, Lyla" without any prompting.

(Lyla was pretending to be a bunny here.)

Everyone that came to the playdates wanted to do it again (and I had a few moms who couldn't make it this week that wanted to try another date).  It was great to meet some people and hopefully we'll continue to do playdates every few weeks!
