St. Patrick's Day

Our leprechaun made his annual visit to our house last night.

Carter decided to build him a little house (instead of a trap).  It was very last minute as he only had about 30 minutes before heading to soccer practice (I was with Rylan and Gray at a birthday party).

He even incorporated the K'nex roller coaster the boys had just rebuilt.

The leprechaun wasn't as mischievous this year.  Maybe he liked that there was no trap for him this time.  He did mess with the half bath a little - put streamers across the door, added a green light bulb, and drew on the mirror.

The leprechaun is apparently lonely and was trying to recruit some new leprechauns.

The new recruits had a challenge to complete that included a scavenger hunt where they had to decrypt clues to figure out where to go.

After going to the kid's bathtub, kitchen table, washing machine, and art easel, they made their way to the Lego Duplos to find a couple of gifts and some treasure.

Though the note told the boys to do these this afternoon, they really wanted to do them right away.  They added dyed vinegar to the rocks which fizzed with each spoonful of vinegar.  After a few minutes, the rocks broke apart to reveal a dollar coin and some toy coins.

Rylan is doing a unit at school about plants and while outside, the kids searched for 4 leaf clovers.  Apparently there is a genetically mutated patch because a bunch of kids found some.  Rylan found a 4 leaf clover and a 5 leaf clover.  I used my new laminator (LOVE IT!!!) to hopefully preserve these fun finds!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
