Carter's Speech Class

Carter started going back to speech therapy yesterday.  He has a new teacher this year - Ms. Rolonda.  Ms. Judy (who I loved and miss so much already) decided to move to private teaching 100% of the time.  I can't blame her though - public schools definitely have issues with low wages and too many students.  So Ms. Rolonda seems okay but she's no Ms. Judy.  I'm trying not to form any opinions too early :)

Carter is doing 2 sessions a week again.  Unfortunately Ms. Rolondo is doing testing on Mondays and Fridays and only teaches kids on the same days that Carter has preschool.  So Carter got into her only teaching time that doesn't overlap with school - Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:30 pm.  Unfortunately I have to pick the boys up from school a little early (you have to pick up by 2:30 pm).  Getting the boys 10 or 15 minutes early doesn't seem like a big deal but it's hard when Rylan's class hasn't gotten up from nap yet and then I'm cutting it close to be on time for speech (I am always 10 minutes early everywhere so getting to speech just on time stresses me out :) ).

We are going to make it work though :)

Carter had another little boy in his speech class yesterday but is supposed to be alone on Thursdays.  There is an assistant when there are 2 kids together so he should still get plenty of attention on Tuesdays.

Carter got a speech binder this year ...

This should be where we find Carter's homework.  There was a letter in the binder too that basically said not to expect to talk about our kids progress each day because Ms. Rolonda doesn't have time and to call or email her with questions.  This is VERY different than Ms. Judy's approach.  Ms. Judy wanted us to return 5 minutes before the session ended so our child could show us what they worked on and she could explain our homework.  We'll see how this goes (I'm trying to not compare styles and judge yet but it's hard!).  Maybe we will get to talk some - Carter is the last kid of the day both sessions so we are't getting pushed out by another kid's sessions starting.

This seems to be what Carter worked on yesterday - s-blends using the Dr. Seuss book "Ten Apples Up on Top".

All that being said, I can't complain too much - this is a free service through Williamson County.  I appreciate so much that this is available.

Since the boys didn't have school yesterday, we were early :)  While waiting, Rylan entertained us singing ...
