Williamson County Fair

We went to the Williamson County Fair on Friday evening.  This was our first time going to our county fair.  We got there around 6:30 and spent almost 3 hours there (the boys did awesome considering it was their second late night in a row - we went to the Titans game on Thursday night).

The first thing we did was watch the dog show where they had dogs doing "dog jumping" into the pool.

Before the dogs started jumping, we were talking about the different colors of their fur.  We compared some of the colors to our own hair.  Rylan kept making this face and saying he couldn't see his hair :)

We walked around for awhile checking out the indoor (air-conditioned!) exhibits and then went in search of some animals.  We came across this lamb competition.  The boys (and I) weren't sure what type of animal this was at first :)

Next the boys (and Brian, once) rode some rides.  We bought 21 tickets for $20 - all the rides that they did cost 3 tickets and Carter lucked out that Rylan rode this one first and was no longer interested in riding most other rides.

All was good before the boat started moving (and even when it was going slow).

But then Rylan wanted OFF.  He didn't freak out or anything but he definitely wasn't happy (but Carter had fun!).

We took a break from rides and did the very awesome "Little 1's Farming Tour".  I was extremely impressed by the volunteers running this operation - it was neat, clean, and always "stocked" with what the kids needed.

There were several stations set up along a path were the kids had to do something - like collect a bag of corn and put it in their basket.

At each stop, there was an instructional sign telling the kids what to do.

At the end, the kids turned in everything they collected from in their baskets and in return got some pretend money.  Then they got to use this money to buy either animal crackers or an ice cream sandwich.

After finishing their snacks, the kids got to go into the children's barnyard where they could pet some animals.  They both got to pet a cow!

There was a mama pig with all her piglets!  Kinda cute at this size :)

There were also lots of goats to pet.

It was starting to get late for the boys (and crowded with teenagers) so we headed on to use our ride tickets.  Carter loves spinning (luckily he seems to take after me and doesn't get motion sickness like Brian) and picked this ride.

Then both boys rode a little train.

Last, Carter rode the small roller coaster.  He LOVED it and a huge smile never left his face when on the ride!

We had a lot of fun and look forward to going to the fair again next year!
