Yummy!!!
On Monday we met Missy, Heather, and Jen and all their kids at Julia Green Park to play. We didn't know that most of the playground had been torn down to build a parking lot. The kids didn't mind though - they played games like hide-and-go-seek most of the time. They would all sit together periodically and discuss what to play next.

On Tuesday afternoon we went to the Brentwood Library for the last summer program of the year. Roger Day was performing. He's a children's musician and was really good. It was the first time we'd seen him but I've already looked it up and he's playing at the Nashville Library in a couple of months and we plan on seeing him again.
Roger even got out some parachutes and beach balls for one of the songs for the kids to play with. It was a really interactive show that was a lot of fun for the kids.
My mom left on Wednesday and needed to be at the airport just after lunchtime. We decided to go to Opry Mills since the weather wasn't great and it's close to the airport. There is a carousel in the food court and Carter REALLY wanted to ride in the spinning "teacup" on the carousel so my mom took the boys on it.
Luckily even though the boys rode immediately after eating lunch, Carter didn't get sick :)
I've been keeping up with marathon training so far. I got in a 9 mile run early this morning (I got to the gate of Crockett Park just as it was being opened).
As soon as I got home from my run, I grabbed a quick shower and took the boys over to the Franklin Farmer's Market. The boys' gardening class for this week was moved to this morning so the kids could tour the market. Last year the kids sold things they had grown in the garden at the market but I don't think their garden has done well enough this year so they took a tour instead.
Carter started off holding Riley's hand as they followed Ms. Lisa through the very crowded market.
At the first booth we stopped at, the kids got to try cherry tomatoes and basil. Rylan actually kind of tried the tomato - he broke the skin with his teeth and ended up with seeds on his shirt but I don't think he actually ate any of it (if you can't tell, he didn't like it). Carter wouldn't even take a tomato to try.
Both boys did take itty bitty bites of basil. One of them said they liked it, don't remember which one now though.
At most of the booths we stopped at, Ms. Lisa bought something for the kids to take home with them. At this booth each kid got to pick out a muffin (Rylan picked strawberry and Carter chose peach - they were out of blueberry already).
The kids got chocolate milk from Hatcher Family Dairy (which is about 10 miles from our house).
They got corn on the cob at this booth ...
At another booth the kids got German Giant Tomatoes. They also got to try cherry tomatoes and Carter almost tried one here. He never did break the skin before giving it to me.
The kids also got to pick out cucumbers when we went back by the booth where they tried tomatoes and basil.
Each kid got quite a haul to take home ... 2 bottles of chocolate milk, 2 ears of corn, 2 peaches, a muffin, a tomato, and a cucumber.
The muffins and some of the milk have already been consumed ...
However, as I expected, neither kid liked the chocolate milk. But Brian was happy to drink it for them :)
Immediately after the farmer's market, I took the boys to Home Depot for the Kids' Workshop. This month they got to build and paint trucks (like the hourly rental trucks you can get at the store).
Somehow we managed to get no paint on clothes this time!!!
This afternoon we went back up to Opry Mills to exchange all the shirts I had gotten Brian earlier in the week that didn't fit. It was INSANE there because it's tax-free weekend (and because it rained a lot today) but we managed and found some good deals.
Before heading home we walked around outside of the Grand Ole Opry so the boys could run around for a bit.
