Ballet at Cheekwood

On Thursday evening of last week my mom and I took the boys to Cheekwood for Family Night Out.  Thursday's performers was the Nashville Ballet doing Aesop's Fables.  Missy was there with her kids and Heather's husband (Chip) was there with their kids.  The performance was inside because it was really hot.  Even though it's pretty in the garden, I'm so glad that they've been moving the performances inside so we are more comfortable.

Carter and Rylan were insanely hyper before the performance started, but once it did, all the kids were pretty much mesmerized.

The ballet dancers did stories like The Ant & The Grasshopper and The Tortoise & The Hare.

At the end, several boys got to come up on the stage and learn to do a ballet move.  Carter was one of the boys!

The learned how to do a "tours en l'air" (turn in the air).

First they practiced spotting.

Then they worked on "saute" (jumping).

And last they put it all together.

When it was the girls turn, Hannah got selected.

After the show, we headed out to see the treehouses.

Chip headed out right away but Missy stayed for a few minutes.  They played on the pirate ship with us.

Carter loved the rope house over the water this time.  He kept climbing up it (because older kids were doing it) and I thought he was going to fall out and into the water!

Tomorrow is the last Family Night Out for the summer.  I'm really going to miss these summer activities!
