Photo Dump

Here are a handful of pictures from the last week:

Another thing I picked up from the Target $0.50 sale were these grow toys.  Carter picked the hammerhead shark ...

So Rylan got the turtle.

You put them in water and over 4 days they grow.  There is a Doc McStuffins episode (which is Carter's favorite cartoon right now) with one of these toys so I figured he would think it was cool.

After a few days the turtle was outgrowing it's bowl (it seems to have one gimpy back fin that isn't growing).

I didn't know if these guys would shrink after taking them out of the water.  I took them out yesterday morning and so far they are still big.  I put them next to their original packages in this picture to show how much they've grown.

On Saturday, Brian and I took the boys to Home Depot to build trucks and then went bowling.  We bowled on the mini-lanes and Brian and I tried it out too this time.  It took us a few tries to get used to the little bowling balls with no finger holes but we got better as the game went on.

Sometimes I think the boys are going to break the floor with how they throw the ball!

For some reason Carter is absolutely obsessed with Spiderman.  I'm not really sure why or how.  We've never seen him on television and don't have any Spiderman books or toys (until this weekend when I finally bought him a Spiderman).  My only guess is that he learned about Spiderman from one of the kids in his Parents' Day Out class.  There was a little boy that often wore costumes to school and one of them was a Spiderman one (his parents were a little odd and liked to let him have a lot of creative freedom).

Anyway, we went to Barnes and Noble on Monday for storytime and Carter was insanely excited that the theme of the day was Spiderman!  He could not sit still.

After reading, the activity was to make a spiderweb.  Carter was the first to volunteer to hold the twine.

The craft was to color Spiderman.

Carter was so proud of his Spiderman.

Rylan was pretty proud too.

I've been trying to get a picture of Rylan's hilarious face that he makes but haven't been able to catch it.  He likes to look over to the left while facing forward.  He thinks it's so funny too.  This is the best picture I've gotten.

The boys and I turned in the last of their summer reading logs on Tuesday at the Brentwood Library.  You had to commit to a certain number of books for the kids to read for this program.  I committed to 50 for Rylan and 200 for Carter.  This wasn't a big deal except that I had to write down the titles of all the books.  That got old after awhile.

Carter was so excited to get his prize!

Both boys favorite item is the little plastic bat rings they got.

On Monday I signed Carter up for soccer through the YMCA.  We went out to dinner on Tuesday and were next to Dick's Sporting Goods so we went in to check out the soccer gear they carry in Carter's size.  Carter thinks shinguards are awesome (I only saw pink ones in his size at first so those are the ones he tried on).

He is SO EXCITED about playing and I hope he enjoys it.  Practice doesn't start for another month and games start a few weeks after that.

It's finally been raining here and has cooled off a lot.  We went to the playground for the first time in weeks yesterday with Heather and Jen and their kids.  The boys had a blast and it was so hard to convince Carter to leave.

It was still warm and a bit humid.  The boys were bright red and soaked with sweat when we left after 2 1/2 hours of playing!

My mom got here late last night and is staying with us for a couple of weeks.  The boys are loving the extra attention!
