Old Stone Fort, Take 2

On Saturday Brian and I took the boys and my mom back to Old Stone Fort in Manchester to see the waterfalls.  We were there 2 weeks ago during the drought period and wanted to see how different the falls looked now that we've had several inches of rain.

Step Falls was the first falls we stopped at.

Here is what the falls looked a couple of weeks ago ...

The boys wanted to touch the water and see if it was cold ...

To get down to Step Falls we had to get down this ledge.  My mom even made it down!

When we got back up to the trail, Carter saw a spider and this is the expression he made.

He is NOT into bugs.

We added in a few more short trails this time and eventually made it to Big Falls.

Here's a picture of the falls from two weeks earlier ...

We ate snacks here and hung out for a bit.

After awhile we continued on our way.  Carter led for awhile and had to have a stick like Brian used earlier to clear the trail of spiderwebs.

The one thing Carter kept bringing up from the hike the last time we did it was the old ladder (it was used awhile ago to get to the base of Blue Hole Falls).  So I got a picture of it this time.

Blue Hole Falls ...

Again, there was a lot more water this time ...

We had fun getting out for the morning and I'm glad we've been able to hike more lately.
