Rylan's Speech Assessment

Rylan had his formal speech assessment with a speech pathologist today.  It was at Crockett Elementary with Carter's speech teacher at 12:30 pm.  We went to the zoo beforehand with Missy and Faby and then drove over to the school.  Rylan played hard at the zoo (and it was hot) and he passed out in the car.  I woke him up about 5 minutes before the assessment time and he was in a foul mood.  He just wanted to go back to sleep.  Luckily while I was talking to Ms. Rholanda for a couple of minutes, Carter pulled out some puppets which got Rylan's attention and woke him right up.

The assessment took about 45 minutes to perform and Ms. Rholanda said Rylan did an awesome job sitting still the whole time and doing the evaluation.  She still has to do a classroom observation and some paperwork but she was pretty sure Rylan was going to qualify for services.  Unfortunately she starts jury duty next week so it may take her a little longer to get these things done but she was hoping to have a recommendation by the beginning of next month.

While Carter and I were sitting in the car waiting for Rylan and doing some workbooks, Carter started complaining that Rylan was taking so much longer than he does.  This was only 20 minutes in.  Carter's sessions last 30 minutes - he has no idea how much time Rylan and I have killed during his sessions for the last 1 1/2 year!  But he may start finding out if we now have to wait on Rylan :)
