Daughter-in-Law

Brian and I have a daughter-in-law already.

A couple of weeks ago Carter told me that he wanted to marry Sadie Mae (a little girl in his class).  He said that they had been trying to get married on the playground but couldn't figure out how.  He also mentioned that she couldn't decide between him and the other boys in the class.

So Carter asked how Brian and I got married.  I told him that a minister asked us if we wanted to get married, we both said yes, exchanged rings, and then kissed (after those last words came out of my mouth, I wished I hadn't said them!).

Last Tuesday after school, Carter told me that he and Sadie Mae had gotten married and that Sadie Mae had a baby in her tummy because that's what mommies do.  Oh, my!  That evening he asked me to find his golden ring (it was one of the things he'd brought home from the treasure chest at school).  He didn't tell me why, but I knew it was for getting married.

When I picked Carter up on Wednesday, I asked him if he gave Sadie Mae the ring and he looked puzzled.  Apparently Sadie Mae had her own ring and the golden ring was for Carter!

I talked to Carter's teacher a little bit about the "marriage" and the assistant that takes the kids out to the playground told Ms. Anne that Carter will have his arm around Sadie Mae and it's very sweet.

On Friday Sadie Mae's mom sent me this picture with the subject "Cutest couple ever".

I have to agree!
