Diamond Caverns & Corvette Museum

Last weekend was really rainy for the second weekend in a row.  I had bought some tickets for a tour of Diamond Caverns on Groupon a little while back so we decided to use them.

Diamond Caverns is adjacent to Mammoth Cave National Park and about 1 1/2 hours north of us.  We had good timing and got to the cave just a couple of minutes before a tour was beginning.  The tours are about an hour long and only 1/2 mile long (though there are lots of stairs).

Carter and Rylan did okay but it was challenging ...  Don't touch!  Don't walk through the puddle! (This was a very wet cave.)  Sssshhhhh - the guide is talking!  Please, walk!  (I carried Rylan the entire time.)  But it was still fun :)  The kids have been talking about the cave since going so I know they ultimately enjoyed it!

After the cave tour, we stopped for a quick lunch and then went to the Corvette Museum on our way back to Franklin in Bowling Green, KY.  I'm not that into cars, but I don't mind visiting these sort of museums.  Brian worked on restoring some cars in high school and enjoys the museums more.  The boys are pretty indifferent :)

There was a car in the lobby that the boys could sit in for some pictures.

The boys didn't want to stay in one place and read much about the cars, but they helped me on a bit of a scavenger hunt.  There are several letterboxes hidden in the museum and we searched for some of them.

There was also a children's room where the boys played for awhile so Brian could actually explore the museum a bit.

Brian helped the boys with the "Pit Crew Challenge".  They had to change tires, fuel cars, and put out accidental fires.

The boys liked the Skydome which displayed over 30 cars (and more open area to run around a little).

There was a temporary exhibit called "Moneyville" for the kids that was a lot of fun.  It was all about money and banks.  The kids had fun playing with lots of fake money

We had fun and visiting these two places was perfect on a rainy day!
