Easter Morning Egg Hunt

On Easter morning, Brian the Easter Bunny hid plastic eggs outside of our house while I made breakfast.  There were 60 eggs with individually wrapped candy in each.  It wasn't raining, but it was really wet outside and occasionally misting a little - not the best weather for an Easter Egg Hunt!  But at least it wasn't too cold (it's been a cool, wet start to spring so far).

The boys started off great.  Carter was all about helping out Rylan.  He would find an egg and then point one out to Rylan and wait for him to get it before looking for another egg.  The boys were being very sweet.

"Who put these long branches here!!!"

But then the boys started noticing slugs.

We thought they were just on a couple of random eggs.

But they ended up being on almost all of them - and usually it was 3 or 4 on each (a few tiny ones even got inside the eggs through the tiny holes on the bottom of the eggs - I was really happy all the candy was wrapped!).

So the boys would find an egg, point it out to us, make us clean it off before touching it, and then put it in their bucket.

Rylan wouldn't trust us that the slugs were all off and had to inspect each egg himself (we did miss a few).

An egg in another tree fell into Carter's bucket when he shook the tree a little.  It didn't happen this time though.

"I ... can't ... reach!"

"Help!"

The eggs on the porch and deck were safe and didn't require our assistance :)

Carter finding more eggs for Rylan ...

I feel like I have this picture over and over again (but not as much as I would have if we didn't have to pick up 75% off the eggs first)!

I love this picture of the boys.  When Rylan wants to be in a picture (he's still stubborn and things usually need to be on his terms), the boys will put their arms around each other and pose.  It's very cute.

Happy Easter - a couple weeks late!
